Broken Leaf

Dear Devoted Readers (of whom I think there are three), I've missed you! It's been 4.5 months since I last posted. Once we finally moved back upstairs, most of the finishing details came to a grinding halt. We've just been enjoying living in a house with lights in almost every room and running hot and cold water. But now it's time to get back to business: our front door and the right door knob. It sets the tone for all the renovation that's happened inside, so I'd like for it to be right. I finally found a pristine entry set with Broken Leaf pattern that came out in 1887. Here it is:

Front Door Sets

Do we go with something like this for the front door? It's from a company called Sargent & Co. circa 1885 from the same place that we bought our interior knobs.

Or this Mallory Wheeler & Co. "Arabic" doorset that came out in December of 1889...

Or something more like this?

Interior Door Knobs

I forgot to post the door knobs sets that we finally settled on for the interior doors. The knobs are called Bennington knobs. Not sure why. And we got some original mortise locks which Josh was excited to take apart when they arrived.

Vintage Hardware

I am such a sucker for antique Victorian hardware. It's one of things I've been looking forward to most with this remodel. That and the ceiling medallions. Weird, huh? Mortise locks are a little tricky to install, but the guy that we're getting the doors from will hang them for us with our pesky antiques. Just need to make sure that the mortise locks and left and right reversible. Fascinating, isn't it?
